With regards to the state of alert, PSD advised that they will try to modify the government resolution, in an attempt to shorten it by 15 days. The Government is trying to bypass Parliament and extend the state of alert by 30 days without a vote, and some MPs, like Kelemen Hunor, are convinced that this is because their intention is to not have local elections organized until next year.

Internal affairs   Starting from June 1st, new liberties were introduced as the number of COVID-19 cases did not rise. As such, Romanians can now move freely between different cities, can eat or drink on the restaurant’s terraces and can organize outdoor sports activities without any spectators. Moreover, gatherings of maximum 500 people can be organized in outdoor spaces. However, restrictions still apply to citizens coming from other countries, as they must be placed in quarantine or isolation for 14 days upon returning to Romania. A new set of relaxation measures is expected to take place on June 15th, providing that the number of cases keeps dropping.
